Curated by Diane Wedekind Falcone and Nolan Nishell Falcone at Blue Door Art Center
Deadline: May 21, 2023 11:59am
Exhibition Dates: June 3 - July 8, 2023 Opening Reception: Saturday, June 3, 1 - 6pm
Identity is everyone’s innate sense of self, including gender. Like a beating heart, we all have a gender identity. Whether you identify as she, he, they or otherwise, we want to celebrate every way there is to be our most authentic selves.
2-D and 3-D work is welcome. Artwork to be considered can be:
Overt - definitive, realism, directly representational. i.e. a portrait, self portrait, photograph, or narrative
Abstract - non-literal, representational. i.e. photo manipulations, representational stand ins
Implicit - suggested, uses imagination and context to infer meaning. i.e experimental, non linear or sensory based experience
But, to put it in the simplest of terms, if the work allows the subject to be their most authentic self, we want to see it!
Selected pieces will be featured in our Blue Door Art Center gallery, located in Yonkers, NY and online. There is no entry fee, but there is a per piece installation fee if your work is accepted. You may submit up to 4 pieces for consideration. 2-D work no larger than 24" x 36", sculpture no more than 100lbs.
Curating this exhibition are mother and child pair Diane Wedekind Falcone (she/hers) and Nolan Nishell Falcone (they/theirs).
Diane Wedekind Falcone is an award winning ceramicist and has been Assistant Gallery Manager at the Blue Door Art Center since 2018.
